Join the BIC team as our EU Affairs Lead
The position of EU Affairs Lead offers a unique opportunity to support BIC’s mission of helping Europe’s bio-based industries build a sustainable and green future.

As BIC strengthens its engagement with EU institutions and stakeholders in Brussels, we are seeking a proactive and results-driven professional to join our team. This role will play a crucial part in enhancing BIC’s public affairs and policy activities at the EU level, ensuring effective advocacy on policy and legislative developments that impact the bio-based sector.
Key responsibilities:

Contribute to the development of BIC’s advocacy and policy strategies.

Design and lead targeted EU public affairs initiatives to influence key policy areas relevant to the bio-based sector.

Identify, build, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in EU institutions and related organisations.

Drafting high-quality policy briefs, position papers, and other communication materials to support BIC’s advocacy efforts.

Facilitating collaboration, dialogue and information exchange among BIC members on policy and regulatory matters.

Monitor and analyse EU policy and legislative developments that impact the bio-based industries.

Represent BIC in external meetings, working groups, events, and policy forums.
Qualifications and experience:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in EU public affairs, policy, or advocacy.

Master’s degree in political science, European studies, or a related field.

Solid understanding of EU decision-making processes relevant to BIC’s stakeholders

Good communication, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly and persuasively.

Experience working in a membership-based organisation and/or public affairs consultancy is an asset.

Familiarity with public affairs related to research, innovation, or the bioeconomy is an asset.

Full professional proficiency in English; knowledge of other EU languages is an advantage.

The position is based in Brussels, and you will be working from our office there, with the option of part-time teleworking.
Unless a national of the ‘EU and EEA’, candidates must be eligible to work in Belgium and have a work permit at the time of the application.
