JARÐLÍF ehf. designs and develops new technologies and methods to create an Integrated Agriculture Aquaculture JARÐLÍF ehf. designs and develops new technologies and methods to create an Integrated Agriculture Aquaculture (IAA) system where aquaculture, agriculture farmers, and agriculturists are at the heart of a circular economy. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of FIRST WATER hf. which maximizes the nutrient retention of fish sludge, dead fish and guts, as well as animal manure and other organic streams into its unique biogas/biofertilizer/biochar factory in S-Iceland. FW , was awarded €6.3 million EU LIFE grant to complete its Terraforming LIFE project. Its main products will be biogas and a powerful natural fertilizer, boosted by mixing it with biochar from the JARÐLÍF pyrolysis factory produced from resources unsuitable for biogas/biofertilizer production, effectively channeling vast quantities of carbon into the soil where it will feed plant life over several millenia.
