BIC feedback on Industrial Accelerator Act
BIC provided its feedback on the Industrial Accelerator Act, highlighting key actions needed to unlock the potential of bio-based industries
The Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) has submitted its response to the European Commission’s Call for Feedback on the proposed Regulation establishing the EU Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA) on 18th June.
BIC broadly welcomes the ambition of the initiative and recognises the importance of strengthening Europe’s industrial competitiveness and resilience in a rapidly evolving global context. The proposed Regulation acknowledges the strategic role of the bioeconomy in providing sustainable biomass and bio-based solutions to support Europe’s industrial transition. However, BIC highlights that further operational measures are needed to translate this recognition into concrete support for bio-based industries and ensure their effective contribution to a more competitive, sustainable, and resilient European economy.
Particularly, BIC identified five key areas where additional action is required to enable the successful deployment and scale-up of sustainable biorefinery solutions and bio-based innovations.
Through this contribution, BIC calls for a stronger focus on the practical implementation of the Industrial Accelerator Act, ensuring that the ambition outlined in the proposal is matched with effective measures that enable sustainable industrial transformation.
