BIC elected as an advisory board member of the FACCE-JPI
FACCE-JPI, the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change was officially launched by European heads of state and government at the European Council in October 2010.
FACCE-JPI's objective is to provide coherence in research programming across Europe to jointly address the challenge of developing agricultural systems that meet food security, adapt to climate change impacts and mitigate greenhouse gases emissions.
The European initiative that brings together 24 participating countries that are committed to mobilising European research leaders, funders and other stakeholders to jointly tackle the societal challenges of sustainable agricultural development and food security in the face of climate change. It is doing so by promoting greater alignment of their national research programmes and activities.
BIC has been elected to the Stakeholder Advisory Board (StAB). The StAB of FACCE-JPI provides end-user and stakeholder advice to the Governing Board and in activities of the JPI. The StAB and GB together with the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) have worked closely to develop and update the FACCE-JPI Strategic Research Agenda and elaborate the Implementation Plan. Furthermore the StAB advises on ways to increase the relevance of FACCE-JPI’s work for stakeholders and ways to enhance the dissemination and (societal) impact of the joint actions.
