Expansion of the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant

Project Aim

Expand innovation potential Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant by increasing the offering of open access pilot infrastructure for fermentation and downstream processing.

Between 2017 and 2024, the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant invested in an extra laboratory and pilot infrastructure for the scale up of bio-based products: • Bio Base Impact: a new process hall with large scale downstream processing equipment to purify bio-based products • Bio Base Flow: partner hubs + extra laboratory for green chemistry and purification + 6 *150 L stainless steel fermenters for scale up • Bio Base Demo: 75 m3 demonstration fermentation line with necessary utilities • Bio Base Transition: 3rd 15 m3 fermentation line • Bio Base NextGen: 8*30 L stainless steel and industry 4.0 ready fermenters for process development and scale up • Microbial Protein Transition: expansion in pilot downstream processing equipment • Waste2Func: new process hall for separately processing waste feedstocks
