BIC horizontal paper - Towards a climate-neutral Europe by 2050
In this horizontal paper, BIC outlines the contribution of the bio-based industries towards achieving a climate-neutral Europe. BIC welcomes that the European Green Deal puts the reduction of fossil emissions as a key priority and aims to achieve climate-neutrality by 2050. We support the ambitious EU target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030.
With this paper we would like to contribute to the discussion on the transition to a climate-neutral Europe. In this paper we describe how our sector already contributes to reduce GHG emission in a sustainable way. The paper then reflects on enablers for our sector to innovate and invest in the transition to climate-neutrality in 2050.
