UPM announces the Biofore Concept Car

04 June 2013

Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is working with the Finnish Agency for Technology and Innovation to develop what it calls the Biofore concept car. Among other sustainable benefits, the car will be constructed largely out of fiber-based materials, and its diesel engine will run on wood-based renewable fuel.

Meanwhile, many of the interior components that are traditionally made with plastic will be made with he university’s “Grada thermoformable” wood-type material. And the car’s shape will be “inspired” by a pinecone. Yes, a pinecone. A street-legal pinecone.
