Mi-Plast is a Croatian family company based in Rijeka that was founded in 1993.
Mi-Plast´s main activity is the processing of polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE) materials, packaging and production of these materials, as well as regeneration and recycling of these materials. The products obtained by processing LDPE and HDPE are mainly used in the construction sector, agriculture and in the retail sector: agricultural mulch, shopping and garbage bags, construction film foils and lamination foils
In order to maximize their contribution to prevent creating new packaging waste, in 2010 Mi-Plast directed its activities towards research and development of biodegradable materials based on biopolymers through EU funded projects. Mi-Plast´s mission is to become market leader in the bio-plastic products supply in South Eastern Europe.
Mi-Plast is partner in 3 BBI JU projects, 1 Research & Innovation action and 2 DEMOS: HYPERBIOCOAT (High performance biomass extracted functional hybrid polymer coatings for food, cosmetic and medical device packaging), FUNGUSCHAIN (Valorisation of mushroom offcuts to obtain high value products), and PULPACKTION (Optimised moulded pulp for renewable packaging solutions).
