Technological Corporation of Andalusia (Corporacion Tecnologica de Andalucia - CTA) is a regional public-private partnership created in 2005 to trigger innovation activities of the Andalusian private sector and to connect these activities with academia and society, supporting public bodies’ innovation policy implementation and promoting R&I in a transition region.
Currently, CTA is owned by more than 150 companies (70% SMEs) from 6 sectors: ICT, Aerospace, Agri-food, Biotechnology, Civil engineering and Energy and Environment. CTA's main activity during these years has been advising, mentoring and funding (with own funds) more than 600 innovation projects with a total investment of ca. €150 million, mobilizing additional private investment of ca. 460 M€. Far from just funding, CTA develops a holistic approach to innovation that paves the way for project results swiftly introduction in the market. This is achieved thanks to an integrated set of complementary services: positioning, internationalisation strategies development or support for funds granting.
Regarding the bio-based economy, the different sectors that CTA gathers open a new possibility for cross-sectorial value chain development, e.g. CTA is participating in the ‘SUPERBIO’ EU funded project aiming to consolidate at least 10 new multi-sector and multinational European bio-economy value chains and assist at least 30 SMEs by providing support services for innovation.
